MONTSERRADO, Monrovia – Liberia National Police authorities are currently investigating the son of Liberia’s Defense Minister, Mark Samukai, for illegal possession of a firearm from a case dating back a month ago.
According to the police report obtained by The Bush Chicken, the 35-year-old son of Brownie Samukai was arrested on May 6 for the illegal possession of a firearm and disorderly conduct.
The police report states that at 2:45 A.M., Metro-1 depot commander, Michael Vandison called into the national operation center to report a case about the illegal possession of a firearm and disorderly conduct at the Bestman-Corner checkpoint.
The document details that Vandison intercepted an unidentified vehicle at the checkpoint and ordered other officers to check the vehicle. Allegedly, Samukai then got out of the vehicle, took out a pistol and pointed it at Vandison’s face.
During the confrontation, Patrolman Ernest Jackson came to back up Commander Vandison. The online casino suspect then struck Jackson with the pistol on his chin which led to him to fall and sustain an injury.
The police report maintained that while Jackson was being rushed to John F. Kennedy Hospital for treatment, Samukai escaped but was pursued by Vandison and arrested on 3rd Street in Sinkor.
The Police report further states that Samukai turned the pistol over to an Inter-Com security officer of a local security firm before his arrest, but the firearm was retrieved.
