Press Union Announces Date for Excellence Awards Night

MONROVIA, Montserrado – The Press Union of Liberia has announced Friday, August 9 as the date for this year’s excellence awards ceremony.

In a release issued on Wednesday, the Press Union announced that the event will take place in Paynesville.

“The event will start at 7:00 p.m. promptly at the Paynesville Town Hall and is expected to bring together journalists, former leaders of the PUL, media development practitioners, government officials, and members of the aid community in Liberia,” the release disclosed.

The annual event is intended to identify and honor the work of journalists and media institutions that performed with distinction during the last period, the union said.

The union also disclosed that the year’s awards event will consider 42 awards categories, including the maiden K. Abdullai Kamara Free Expression Awards.

Businessman and politician Simeon Freeman, who is the political leader for the Movement of Progressive Change, will serve as the keynote speaker for the event.

Senah is a graduate of the University of Liberia and a recipient of the Jonathan P. Hicks Scholarship for Mass Communications. Between 2017 and 2019, he won six excellent reporting awards from the Press Union of Liberia.
