Rep. Younquoi Dedicates Peace Hall in Yarsonnoh Town

YARSONNOH, Nimba – Over the weekend, residents of Yarsonnoh dedicated a peace hall for use by the citizens for meetings and other administrative and judicial purposes including traditional disputes settlements.

The hall was constructed under the supervision of the Yarsonnoh Development Association, headed by Michael S. Dahn and with support from Larry P. Younquoi, a lawmaker from Nimba. Winrock International also supported the projects, along with contributions from the citizens of Yarsonnoh.

According to Dahn, the project was initiated this year in June and concluded in September. He said the entire project cost US$7,834.

Presenting an overview of the project, Dahn said it was not an easy task to have the peace hall built because the association did not have money to undertake such project. He said the support of Younquoi and other non-governmental organizations were crucial to bringing the town closer to realizing its dream.

“We are very thankful to all who supported us in bringing this peace hall to where it is, especially Hon. Larry Younquoi, the Winrock family and the good people of Yarsonnoh Town,” he said.

Speaking during the occasion, Younquoi commended the people for recognizing the role he played in the hall’s construction. Younquoi also pledged his support for future projects. The lawmaker used the occasion to show his appreciation to the people of Yarsonnoh for their support given to him during the 2011 elections.

“I am very grateful to the people of Yarsonnoh for giving me the opportunity to serve as the keynote speaker for this dedication program,” Younquoi said. “But beyond that, I am very grateful to the people of Yarsonnoh for standing by me during the 2011 elections. I will always make sure to come to your call whenever you call upon me.”

“I cannot imagine that I could have gotten such a huge number of votes in Yarsonnoh, due to the fact that they had one of their own sons in the race,” he said. “For this, I hold them in high esteem.”

Younquoi is considered by many to be one of the most dedicated lawmakers to developmental activities. There are many posts across social media of the lawmaker dedicating projects across the county. Recently, Younquoi dedicated a 10-bedroom guest house, a six-classroom community school and a bus stop in the town of Gbahn.
