Rural Reporters

Overview

The Bush Chicken (www.bushchicken.com) is a high-quality media outlet dedicated to in-depth news and analysis on Liberia’s current events, development, and state of affairs.

Our name is inspired by both the inclusive coverage of rural communities and the idea that the outlet serves as a wake-up call to important issues. One of Liberia’s most respected news outlets, The Bush Chicken has won more national awards than any other news outlets since 2017.

There is a general perception that news outlets in Liberia are corrupt and sub-standard. The Bush Chicken is different – we pay our journalists significantly above industry standard, we cover rural issues, we conduct in-depth investigative stories, and we are independent.
