Terrence Tisdell has experienced his first defeat with his new club, Costa do Sol, since he completed his two-year loan deal with the Mozambican side from Liberia First Division champions, LISCR Football Club.
The former FC Fassell forward was on the losing side in the first leg of the 2018 Confederation of African Football confederation cup first round qualifiers when his Costa do Sol lost to South Africa’s ABSA Premiership Club, Cape Town City Football Club, at home.
The Mozambican FA Cup and Super Cup defending champions were unable to continue their fine form from the preliminary round as they bowed to a narrow 1-0 defeat in front of their supporters. Â South African forward Sibusiso Masina scored the only goal to sink Costa do Sol.
Masina scored the match winning goal in the 65th minute after both sides played to a goalless draw in the opening 45 minutes. Costa do Sol was unable to level the score in the remaining 25 minutes of the match as they went on to bow to a narrow 1-0 defeat on home soil.
Their chances of reaching the second-round qualifiers are slim, as they need to win by a two-goal margin in South Africa.
The task appears difficult, but Tisdell believes his side can pull out a surprise win. While admitting being disappointed about the defeat at home, the 19-year-old attacker told The Bush Chicken that his team is confident of turning the tide around when the two sides meet in South Africa in a week’s time.
“Unfortunately for us, this is not the defeat we wanted, but it’s all football,†he said. “We accept the results and will work harder to get the score around. It might sound difficult, but we are confident of getting things turn around.â€
