Liberian international Tonia Tisdell of Turkey Süper Lig side Osmanlıspor made his first appearance of the 2015-2016 league season as his side got an easy 3-1 victory over Trabzonspor.
Tisdell came off the bench to replace Turkish forward Erdal Kılıçaslan in the 83rd minute. The speedy forward was sidelined due to injury and now appears to have recovered to match fitness.
The victory moves Osmanlıspor to second place in the Turkey Süper Lig with 11 points after six games.
In neighboring Cyprus, Aradippou Stadium was the center of attraction on Saturday night as football fans gathered to watch two of Liberia’s stars battle each other.
Cyprus football league newcomer Theo Weeks Lewis of Ermis welcomed Solomon Grimes’s high flying Nea Salamis in a match that was well worth the fans’ money.
Both clubs were equally entertaining, but it was Grimes was smiling at the end of the 90 minutes after his Nea Salamis got an emphatic 2-1 win over Lewis’s Ermis.
Despite taking an early lead, Ermis was unable to stand the pressure from Nea Salamis as they quick surrender. Lewis’s 90 minutes on the pitch did not prevent his beloved Ermis from going down in front of home fans.
The victory took Nea Salamis up to fifth on the table with nine points while Ermis dropped to 10th with four points.
In South Africa, Kpah Sherman continued to win with his new club Mpumalanga Black Aces, who were again victorious on Sunday night after an easy 4-1 win over Maritzburg United. Though Sherman failed to register on the scoresheet, his presence on the pitch earned him his second assist in two games.
The victory moved the Aces to second on the table with 14 points, level with first place Platinum Stars, which tops with the goal differentials.
Still in South Africa, Anthony Snothi Laffor came on from the bench in the 54th minute to help his Mamelodi Sundowns to a 2-0 victory away at his former club, Jomo Cosmos.
A support from South African Kaegan Dolly was enough to see the Sundowns earn all three points. The victory took them to sixth on the league table with ten points.
In Spain, William Jebor continues to struggle for first team football as his club Ponferradina got an emphatic 1-0 win over visitors Athletic Bilbao II in continuation of the Spanish second tier league.
Jebor was introduced in the 69th minute to replace Montenegrin forward Luka ÄorÄ‘ević. With the victory, Ponferradina moves up to ninth on the league table with nine points from five games.
Zah Krangar played full 90 minutes as his Felda United could only manage a 0-0 draw away at Selangor in continuation of the 2015 Malaysia Cup. With just a point earned, Felda United remains on top of Group C with five points from three games.
Elsewhere in Sweden, veteran forward Dioh Williams was unable to score as his club Gefle IF, suffered a second successive defeat after going down 2-1 at home to league leaders Norrköping. The loss of three points means Gefle drops to the eighth place on the table with 32 points.
