After almost three months of vacation, domestic football has returned to Europe with most of the continent’s top leagues back in action.
Among those leagues that resumed over the weekend was the Turkish Super Lig in which Liberia international winger, Tonia Tisdell, plays for Osmanlispor.
After spending most of last season on the sideline, Tisdell resumed training with the Ankara-based side during their just ended preseason camp.
The former Mighty Barrolle attacker made an impressive start to the preseason camp, scoring two goals in their first test match against Azerbaijani Premier League side, Sumuqayt FK.
Tisdell’s performance in the preseason convinced his technical staff and administrators that was already receiving offers from several clubs for a possible transfer. The Liberian’s return to Osmanlispor’s first team saw him enter the match day squad for the first time since April 14, 2016. The 24-year-old was part of the Osmanlispor squad that traveled to Yeni Malatyaspor for their first match of the season.
His first appearance in the Turkish top flight after 16 months turned out to be one of the worst in his career after he was shown a straight red card, contributing to his side suffering a defeat away from home.
Tisdell started the match from the bench and came on in the 75th minute before receiving a straight red card for a reckless tackle on Dutch-born Murat Yildirim in the 89th minute as Osmanlispor bowed to a 3-1 defeat.
With Osmanlispor down 3-0, Tisdell was brought on to help strengthen the attack in their hunt for a goal. However, his introduction became a burden for the team in the remaining minutes of the match by playing with 10 against 11.
The red means the Liberian will miss Osmanlispor in the next two league games. He will miss the first home match against giant Galatasary on the August 19 before the trip away at Kayserispor on August 26.
