During the 2016 summer transfer window, the Liberian winger made the headlines in Liberia for all the right reasons after sealing a move to the Turkish Super Lig.

Rennie became the biggest Liberian transfer player in the 2016 summer after ending his five years in Swedish football to join Antalayspor in the Turkish top league. The former LPRC Oilers player joined the club as a free agent on a two-year deal.

His transfer to Antalyspor brought joy to many Liberian football fans who were glad to see him share a dressing room with four-time African best player and former FC Barcelona striker, Samuel Eto’o, who joined the club in 2015.

Rennie may have won the hearts of many fans, but he struggled to convince his technical staff that he needed to be a key member in Antalayspor’s squad.

After participating in the club’s preseason where he scored on his debut against Al Ahli Dubai, he found life difficult during the league as he failed to bump into the first team. His first and only season with Antalyspor ended with disappointments as he was only able to make three appearances throughout the 2016-17 league season. He made his two league appearances in defeats to Konyaspor and Alanyaspor, while his only match in the Turkish Cup was against Aydinspor.

With the new European league season kicking off across the continent, there were many Liberians wishing that Rennie would break through Antalyaspor’s squad to become a regular member. Now, as the end of the transfer window draws near, they just want to see him find a new club.

Rennie’s time with Antalyaspor came to an end just a few weeks before the start of the new league season despite having a year remaining on his contract. A statement on the club website said the former Mighty Barrolle player’s contract was terminated by mutual agreement.

Any move for Rennie before the end of the transfer window will see him join his seventh foreign club since departing Liberia in 2009.
