KAKATA, Margibi – In response to the resignation of leaders of its Margibi chapter, the Movement for Economic Empowerment has accused the former county chairman, James Tarnue, of forging the signature of some leaders who allegedly signed the resignation letter.
A press statement signed by the acting MOVEE chairman for Margibi, Charles McGee, thanked Tarnue for his service while leveling the accusation against the former chairman.
McGee, who was formerly the Margibi vice chairman for MOVEE, was listed as one of the leaders who resigned. He accused his former boss of counterfeiting his signature on the document.
“I am not part of the letter of resignation of Mr. Tarnue, as my signature, including many other signatures, were forged,†McGee wrote.
He further noted that the resignation of the former leaders of the organization would have little effect on the party’s operations in Margibi.
“We are on course with our campaign activities,†McGee added. “Our [party’s] supporters and well-wishers know that Dr. Mills Jones remains the only option that can transform Liberia and empower Liberians.â€
However, another one of the MOVEE leaders who resigned suggested that McGee may have had a change of heart and is covering his tracks with the forgery claims.
Isaac Kamara, who formerly chaired the Friends of Jones political group, posted a photo on the Facebook that showed McGee posing with Unity Party’s vice standard bearer, Emmanuel Nuquay, along with the former chairman Tarnue.
McGee admitted being in the photograph and confirmed that it was taken after the coordinated resignation but he declined to explain why he was in the picture.
