FENDELL, Montserrado – The University of Liberia has released results for its second entrance and placement exams in 2017.

According to the results of the late July exams, out of 5,243 candidates who sat the exams at the undergraduate level, the College of General Studies, and the David A. Straz-Sinje Technical and Vocational College, 20 percent passed.

Undergraduate colleges accounted for 909 of the successful candidates, while the College of General Studies and the technical college accounted for 57 and 70, respectively.

Over 600 of the candidates were placed in the provisional category, while 379 scored regular passing marks.

“Regular pass candidates may register for up to 18 credit-hours during their first semester in a college of the University of Liberia,” the administration disclosed.

Provisional candidates have an average score of 50 percent or more, but less than 60 percent when their Mathematics and English scores are combined. They would be restricted to register at most 12 credit-hours during their first semester.

Like the recent WAEC exams, the top performing candidate in the undergraduate category was a female. Euphemie Deemi of Ricks Institute scored 90 percent in Mathematics and 80 percent in English.

In June, the university announced its first entrance and placement exams administered in May, reporting a remarkable improvement over previous years.

“This year’s result shows a remarkable improvement compared to the last three examinations in terms of the number of students who meet the passing threshold,” the administration disclosed in a statement.
