Former FC Fassell winger Terrence Tisdell has kicked off his football career in Mozambique in style with his new club, Costa do Sol, after winning his first major trophy.
The footballer was in action for all 90 minutes over the weekend as he helped the Maputo-based club win their seventh Mozambique Super Cup title. Tisdell’s Costa do Sol won the trophy after an emphatic 2-0 win over 2017 Mocambola champions, Uniao Desportiva do Songo.
The game was Tisdell’s first official match for his new club as he went on to better introduce himself to his new fans in Mozambique. The 19-year-old attacker made sure his name got registered on the scoresheet to help his side lift the trophy.
Malawian international Chawanagwa Kaonga put Costa do Sol ahead in the 35th minute after making use of an error from Uniao Desportiva goalkeeper right in the six-yard box. Costa do Sol held on to the narrow lead as they went to the first half break ahead by a goal. Back from the break, Tisdell doubled the lead for his side in the 60th minute with a superb left-foot strike from within Desportiva’s penalty area. His goal in the second half turned out to be the final goal of the match as Costa do Sol went on to begin the 2018 season with a trophy.
With four shots on target and a goal, Tisdell was voted player of the Super Cup match. He described such achievement as one of the best in his football career, telling The Bush Chicken it’s the beginning of his mission to Mozambique. He vowed to improve as he seeks bigger challenges in the future.
“I’m really honored today. It has come as a surprise. Scoring a goal, winning the Super Cup and being voted as the player of the match was just one of the best moment in football career,†Tisdell said. “I’m happy for it and looking forward to working harder for more. I came here for a mission and this is the starting point for me. It’s a challenge I’m prepared for and ready to work towards.â€
Tisdell’s triumph in Mozambique didn’t go unnoticed by his parent club, LISCR FC, which congratulated him via their official Facebook page. The club wished him well in the 2018 season, writing, “Congratulations to Terrence Tisdell who has helped his club, Costa do Sol, win the 2018 Mozambican Super Cup with a goal and the man of the match award. We say congratulations and good luck to the new season.â€
Tisdell joined Costa do Sol in 2017 after agreeing to a two-year loan from Liberia First Division and FA Cup champions, LISCR Football Club. He was signed by LISCR just in September 2017 and didn’t make a single appearance before his departure.
