”No, No, No,” Zuagele Accuses Newsmen of Falsehood

COCOPA, Nimba – The head of the Nimba County Administration, Fong G. Zuagele, has accused reporters in Ganta of disseminating inaccurate information about him.

The superintendent addressed journalists upon arrival at the former Cocopa Rubber Plantation over the weekend, where he had gone to quell protests by workers.

Zuagele warned journalists against broadcasting incorrect information. In particular, he took issue with journalists suggesting that he threatened to jail workers involved in the protest.

“Did you hear me in an interview threatening anybody?” he asked reporters. “You don’t pick up something that is not true. You don’t put words in my mouth.”

He added, “No, no, no, this is a false allegation.”

He explained that he had held a discussion with the workers, during which no one mentioned taking workers to jail.

“Please don’t waste my time. You guys have embarked on this business, and I don’t know how far you will go with this,” Zuagele said.

This is not the first time the superintendent has called out journalists. In October 2015, Zuagele also accused media institutions in Ganta of preaching hate messages. He said the mob violence that erupted in Ganta on September 30, 2015 was a result of information discussed by the public on Radio Voice of Gompa during the station’s early morning show, “Have Your Say.”
