Zah Krangar Extends Contract with Felda United

Veteran Liberian midfielder Zah Rahan Krangar has signed a new two-year deal with Malaysia Super League club Felda United, extending his contract until January 2018.

Krangar’s previous deal with the Malaysian side was due to expire at the end of January 2017 and there were some top clubs after his signature.

However, he has now signed a new one-year extension in order to make sure Felda receives a transfer fee should he decide to seek a new challenge elsewhere.

Krangar joined Felda in 2014 after 10 years of playing in Indonesia. In his first year with Felda, he played a key role in the team’s midfield as they finished second in the Malaysia Premier League. He narrowly missed out on winning the Premier League, but still had a reason to celebrate after gaining promotion to the Malaysia Super League.

Again, Krangar became very instrumental for Felda in their return to the Super League, helping them to a top five finish. He scored eight times and provided seven assists in 2016, as Felda finished second in the Malaysia Super League.

The midfielder told The Bush Chicken he was excited to sign a contract extension with Felda because he feels happy with the club and wants to help the team win trophies.

“I am glad that Felda was able to extend my time here,” he said. “I’m happy here and want to be here as long as I can. With Felda, I think I can win trophies.”

Krangar’s vacation away from the football season was cut short as he returned to join Felda for early preparation for the 2017 season. Felda qualified to represent Malaysia in Asia’s second biggest club competition, the AFC Cup, and Krangar agreed with the need to start preparations for the competition earlier.

Instead of the regular three titles each year, Felda will now compete for four different titles for the upcoming season. The Fighters, as Felda is commonly called, will play in the Malaysia Super League, the Malaysia FA Cup, the Malaysia Cup, and the AFC Cup. Zah believes his team is capable enough to compete in all four competitions.

“It will be our first time competing in four competitions in a single season,” he said. “But with the level of hard work, we are confident of withstanding the pressure and get the positive results.”
