LISCR FC’s Christopher Jackson has made use of his first opportunity in Europe to impress the technical staff of Belarusian club FC Shakhtyor Soligorski by scoring in his first test game.
The Lone Star striker registered his name on the scoresheet once to help his side grab a narrow 2-1 win over Czech top-flight club FK Teplice. His goal was the game winner for the Belarusian side on Wednesday, January 30 at the Anagennisi Football Ground in Deryneia, Cyprus.
Jackson’s first trial match was a game that was full of fireworks for the two teams that are preparing for the 2018 league season. After a competitive opening minute where the possession was nearly equal, it was Teplice that scored the opening goal in the 15th minute. The Czech club got the match’s first goal through 26-year-old Czech forward, Tomas Kucera. Kucera scored with a beautiful freekick from outside the penalty area to put Teplice in the lead.
It took Shakhtyor Soligorsk 30 minutes to get the score leveled before getting the match winning goal in the 63rd minute. Russian midfielder Evgeni Kozlov scored at the stoppage time in the first half to end the first half with a 1-1 draw.
Back from the break, Jackson was on time to punish FK Teplice’s goalkeeper, Tomas Grigar, for a mistake. Grigar had kicked the ball towards Jackson, who was standing across the penalty area. The LISCR FC striker intercepted the ball and controlled it as he made his way to the edge of the penalty box before striking with his left foot to beat Grigar in goal.
That winning goal came in the 63rd minute and Shakhtyor went on to win their first preseason match.
The club will play their second game in Cyprus on Saturday, February 2 when they take on FK Mlada Boleslav of Czech Republic.  There’s no doubt that Jackson would be hoping for more of his performance against FK Teplice when he takes on the pitch against Mlada as he continues his trials with FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk.
