MONROVIA, Montserrado – LISCR FC’s head coach Mustapha Manneh has told his players not to feel complacent despite their narrow win over league leaders FC Fassell.
The Gardnesville-based club secured a 1-0 win over the Soccer Missionaries to move to second on the league table with 16 points. Christopher Jackson’s 75th-minute goal was enough to hand Manneh his fourth victory in the Liberian First Division League.
Despite the win over the previously undefeated FC Fassel, Manneh believes his team never played to his expectations.
“I am happy about the result, but not the performance of the team. I was expecting more than a goal,†he said. “Unfortunately, we were unable to get more than one because the instructions were not taken accordingly by the players.â€
LICSR’s next match was scheduled for Feb. 12 against BYC at the Blue Field but has been postponed to a later date because of BYC’s CAF Champions League preliminary first round game against Stade Malien de Bamako. The postponement of the match is an advantage to LISCR, which will have more time to prepare for their round 11 clash against Watanga Football Club while it awaits a new date for the BYC match.
The Gambian-born coach said his team won’t rest despite the two weeks remaining until the match against Watanga.
“We have no time to rest. We were supposed to play BYC during the weekend, but unfortunately, the match has been postponed,†Manneh said. “We will keep working harder. I have talked to the Secretary General to schedule a tough friendly match to replace the weekend league match.â€
