Former Education Minister Admitted Into Top Education Advisory Group

Former education minister George Kronnisanyon Werner has been admitted into the Atlantis Group, an exclusive international advisory group of former ministers of education and heads of state.

The group is an invitation-only body. It currently comprises seventy-five members, including former Ecuadorian president Rosalía Arteaga, former Lebanon minister of education Elias Bou Saab, and Former Greek prime minister George Papandreou.

It was founded by the Varkey Foundation which is working to build the capacity and status of teachers to ensure that the quality of teaching is enhanced to improve learning outcomes.

Members of the Atlantis Group also have decades of experience in running and reforming public education systems and have grappled with some of the biggest issues in education at the highest levels of State.

The group is currently working to address the challenges in global education – and to inform the new generation of leaders and policy-makers.

Werner’s membership puts Liberia at the top for higher decision making on improving global quality of education.
