MONROVIA, Montserrado – The Liberia’s national football team has improved its standing in the latest FIFA/Coco-Cola World Ranking for the month of January.
The Lone Star has moved two places further in the latest world ranking and three steps up in the African ranking.
From statistics released by the football world governing body, FIFA, via its official website, Liberia is seated at 101 in the world rankings, two places above the previous position.
The Lonestar’s latest thrust up in the world ranking comes just ahead of its 2017 African Nations Cup back-to-back qualifiers against Djibouti in March.
Liberia’s highest FIFA ranking was back in August 1993 when the Lonestar ascended to the 86th spot during the playing days of the legendary George Weah.
In Africa, Liberia leaped three places from 28th to 25th place, ahead of countries like Togo and Sierra Leone.
