Liberian internationals Murphy Oscar Dorley and Francis Forkey Doe are having great starts at their new clubs, scoring goals in their first appearances after signing new contracts.
Dorley scored once to help Slovan Liberec to a 2-1 win over Sigma Olomouc in a friendly encounter. The former Monrovia Club Breweries midfielder scored in the 37th minute to give Slovan Liberec the lead at the Abdruv Stadion in Olomouc, Czech Republic. Dorley’s goal was the only one in the first half as Slovan went to the break with a lead.
Five minutes into the second half, the score became leveled when Slovan’s Milan Kerbr scored an own goal to cancel their 37th minute lead. Unfortunately for Slovan’s opponent, they also had their own blunder in the 66th minute when Sigma’s midfielder Michal Surzyn scored in his own net.
The goal was the last to end the match. Dorley’s Slovan held on to their lucky lead until the full 90 minutes as they went on to win their third friendly match ahead of the second phase of the 2017-18 Czech Liga.
Dorley joined Slovan Liberec a week ago on loan from Lithuanian club, FK Trakai. He’ll stay with the Czech side until the end of season with an option of making a permanent move.
Meanwhile, in Malaysia, Francis Forkey Doe opened his scoring account for his new club, Pahang FA. The Lone Star striker scored once to help Pahang grab a 3-1 over Kelantan in the third week of the 2018 Malaysia Super League.
Doe scored the first goal for Pahang in the 13th minute before Mohammdou Sumareh doubled the lead in the 54th minute. Mohammad Nor Azam scored the final goal in the 87th minute to help Pahang bounce back from their previous 1-0 defeat to PKNS.
The victory took Pahang to sixth place on the league table with four points from three games while Doe got his first goal from his first appearance for Pahang.
Doe joined Pahang on February 9 after agreeing to stay with the club for the 2018 season. He last played for Selangor in the 2017 season where he scored eight goals in 18 Malaysian Super League appearances.
