MONROVIA, Montserrado – Monrovia Club Breweries FC has reached an agreement with a top Kosovo club to transfer two of players. When the new football league season begins, Monrovia Club Breweries will be without the services of talented attacker Nicolas Andrews and center defender Prince Balde, who have signed with KF Feronikeli.
Both Andrews and Balde completed a week of tryouts before being signed by the club, which formerly employed Liberian striker Abu Kamara, now based in Slovenia. The deals were announced by Feronikeli via their official Facebook page.
Announcing the signing of the 20-year-old Andrews, the club wrote, “Andrews plays as a midfielder and comes from Liberia where he developed as a professional footballer. With Andrews being a young player, there’s no doubt that he’ll bring new energy to the club.â€
For Balde, also 20, whose signature was announced before Andrews’, the club said he had shown great skills during the tryouts and called him “one of the key defenders at Monrovia Club Breweries in Liberia.â€
Balde and Andrews have proven to be among the best players in Liberia over the years. The duo played an important role in helping Monrovia Club Breweries win both the 2015-16 Liberia Football Association second division league and the FA Cup. They were part of the Monrovia Club Breweries team that defeated Algerian side JS Kabylie 3-0 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in the preliminary round of the 2017 CAF Confederations Cup qualifiers before being beaten 4-0 away to exit the competition.
The pair is already training with Feronikeli ahead of the start of the 2018-19 league season. They are expected to make their official debut for the club when the new season begins August 18, 2018.
