Despite two disappointing years in Europe, William Jebor is proving that he still has the goals in his boots.
Jebor increased his league goal tally to 10 over the weekend after helping his club, Wydad Athletics to an emphatic 2-1 win away at FUS Rabat at the Stade du FUS in round 14 of the Morocco Botola Pro League.
After a goalless draw in the first half, Jebor gave his side the lead in the 60th minute with a long-range strike from outside the penalty area before Moroccan international midfielder Mehdi Karnas doubled the lead six minutes later with a free kick.
The home side pulled one goal back in the 84th minute through Abdessalam Benjelloun, but was unable to level the score to get a share of the points.
The three points collected at the Stade du FUS has extended Wydad’s lead at the top by one point. From 14 games played, Wydad sits on top of the table with 30 points, one more than second place Difaa El Jadidi, while Jebor’s tenth goal made him the joint leading goal scorer of the 2016-17 Botola Pro league.
Wydad will go in search of their ninth win of the league season when they host Kawkab Marrakech in their final game of the first phase.
