Cry of a Motherless

A fallen star I have become
For too soon you answered the call
The call to the great beyond
And me in a cold world you left

The warmth of your arms I know not
How tender your love I cannot tell
You left when these arms could barely feel
And my heart could know a touch not

Did you really have to go
Were you in a rush to drop me by
Did I mean so little to your heart
That you left me so cold and lone

I wish you were here now
I wish to hold you so tight and close
Your love to feel, your care I long for
Here in a cold world, I’m lost and lone

Gone too soon, O anchor of hope
You left with no notice
No clue to begin life’s perilous journey
Left to face the world alone
Gone just too soon
