Police Probe Manhandling of Teenage Boy in Kakata

KAKATA, Margibi – Police in Kakata are searching for a 43-year-old woman identified as Patience Natt, alias Sampee, for allegedly ordering the inhumane treatment of a teenage boy.

Mabutu Kromah, a 15-year-old boy, told The Bush Chicken in an interview that he was arrested by community dwellers around 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and locked up in a room on the order of Natt, who accused him of breaking into her home and taking away a generator, freezer, and air conditioner, allegations he denies.

Kromah further explained that he was later turned over to two brothers of the accused who tied and kept him in a shop without food and water until 9:00 p.m. He said the men used cutlasses to inflict wounds on him, in an attempt to take his life.

“Both of them came with two cutlasses and the other brother started chopping me on my hands as they threaten to kill me,” the teenager explained.

“I managed to escape through the window after the brother who had chopped me said he was going to call his brother, so they could kill me.”

The victim also narrated that prior to the incident, he had lived with Natt for nearly 10 years but he was sent to his aunt in Kakata on grounds that he was involved in criminal activities.

Kromah’s father is, meanwhile, calling on the Liberia National Police to exhaust efforts to find the perpetrators of the heinous act against his son.

According to Morris Kromah, Mabutu Kromah has lived with Natt since he was five-years-old and therefore blamed her for any criminal acts he may have picked up, as she is claiming.

The Women and Children Protection Section of the Liberia National Police in Kakata has, meanwhile, encouraged Natt to turn herself in for interrogation, as she could be declared a wanted person if she fails to do so.
