Liberia Football Association Mourns the Death of its Secretary General

MONROVIA, Monsterrado – Alphonso Armah, the Liberia Football Association Secretary General has died of liver cancer. He was 37.

The LFA confirmed announced his death on Nov. 11, 2015. By the Islamic tradition, his faith, he was buried on the same day of his death. He was laid to rest at a cemetery in Old Road.

“He was a great asset to the LFA, and he will be missed immensely,” LFA president Musa Bility said. “His passing has left us with a huge gap at the LFA, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult and sad moment,”

“Out of respect of our colleague’s passing and the big game on Friday, my primary focus right now as LFA President will be to ensure our Lone Star’s victory against the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire,” he said.

Armah began as an office assistant, spending over five years at the LFA Secretariat before being appointed to the General Secretary position in March 2013.
