Mayor Dokpa: September 30 Violence Taught Us a Lesson

GANTA, Nimba – Mayor Benjamin Dokpa has said the violence that took place in Ganta on Sept. 30, 2015, left a good lesson for citizens.

Speaking during an interview at his Ganta office, Dopka said, “This is a lesson to our young people especially, that they should not get involved in violence. They should not be part and parcel of unlawful actions – thereby being the judge, the complainant and defendant at the same time.”

Dokpa said the court system is set up to settle such incidents legally, and citizens should defer to the legal process.

He added, “Violence does not solve any problem. Our young people need to see a reason to always follow the proper procedure in having their plights addressed.”

Dokpa further warned that those who engaged in any acts of violence would end up behind bars.

“The arm of the law is stronger than any person,” he said.

Dokpa has served one year in Ganta as head of the Gompa City Cooperation since taking over in December 2014 from his predecessor, D. Dorr Cooper, the current Nimba County Assistant Superintendent for Development.
