FC Fassell Maintains Perfect Record

MONROVIA, Montserrado – FC Fassell is having a dream start to the 2016-17 season, as the first division team has recorded its fourth straight win.

Fassell earned a 1-0 win over the LPRC Oilers in round four of the LFA First Division. A goal from Jeremy Sengbe was enough to put the Soccer Missionaries in early contention for the league title.

While Fassell missed out on winning the title last season, finishing second behind champions Barrack Young Controllers, their early performance has made them the league favorite for the title.

The Soccer Missionaries kicked off their campaign with a 5-1 humiliation of ELWA United, followed by a narrow 1-0 win over Monrovia Club Breweries in the second round of matches. Their ruthless form continued to day three of match play when they trashed one of Liberia’s traditional clubs, Invisible Eleven, 3-0 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium. They finished a perfect four for four with a narrow win over the LPRC Oilers on the final day of matches.

With its four straight wins, Fassell sits on top of the first division table with 12 points, three points more than second place team, BYC, which suffered a shocking 3-2 defeat at home to the struggling Mighty Barrolle.

Meanwhile, LPRC continues to struggle in the league despite hiring a new coach and bringing in several new players before the start of the season. After four games played, the Oil Boys have won just a single match, suffering two defeats and securing a draw. With four points, LPRC sits eighth on a twelve-team table.
